Layout

Tactile warning studs in the shape of a truncated cone or a dome shape should be arranged in a square grid, parallel or diagonal at 45 ° to the main direction of travel.

The tactile warning strip consists of a relief of warning studs with the possibility of arrangement in a diagonal or parallel layout:

1. Warning strip with warning studs in diagonal layout, vertical and isometric view.

2. Warning strip with warning studs in parallel layout, vertical view.

Recommended distances between tactile warning studs:

The spacing refers to the shortest distance between the centers of two adjacent tactile warning studs, which may be parallel or diagonal at an angle of 45 ° to the direction of travel. The spacing must be within the ranges given in relation to the upper diameter in the table above.

Upper level diameter of warning studs (mm) Axial distance between warning studs (mm)
12 42 to 61
15 45 to 63

Installation of polyurethane guiding strips at the Faculty of Economics, University of Vienna The installation of the floor guiding system for the blind at the Faculty of Economics, University of Vienna was carried out in 2013. Self-adhesive guiding strips made of polyurethane TPU/P1 were used, the tape was Gerband 941, ideal in interiors. The guiding system is arranged according to ISOTI rules - International System Of Tactile Indicators. The varying number and arrangement of the strips in the guiding line defines the function of the guiding line or informs about the destination of the guiding path. The basic circuit consists of a 3-line, the path to the lift is a 4-line, the path to the stairs is a 5-line, the warning field in front of the stairs at the top is a transversely oriented 7-line, etc.

Self-adhesive installation at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, Winnipeg The installation at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg took place in 2017. White polyurethane self-adhesive guiding strips TPU/P1/35/500/3 and warning studs TPU/KH/25/3.3 were used to install the tactile floor guiding system for the blind. The elements were sticked with 3M VHB 5925 tape.

Tactile floor guiding systems in Unicredit Bank Austria branches The installations were carried out in 2011 in Vienna and some other towns nearby. Red polyurethane guiding strips TPU/P1-RE-S/35/500/3, self-adhesive with Gerband 941 tape were used for the installation of the floor guiding system for the blind. The guiding strips are arranged according to the ÖNORM standard.
